"A Line Between Hearts" is a collection of music featuring artists from countries bordering Afghanistan. Featuring musicians from across Central and South Asia, the album explores the idea of borders- not only as physical and political realities, but as forces that shape human relationships, memory, movement, and belonging.

At a time when borders dominate conversations around conflict, migration, identity, and security, this project asks a different question: what do we share across them? While borders can separate families, communities, and nations, they have never fully contained the exchange of stories, traditions, ideas, and music. For centuries, the regions surrounding Afghanistan have been connected through trade routes, migration, poetry, and cultural exchange, leaving traces of one another in their languages, histories, and artistic traditions.

The music itself reflects these intersections. Afghan musical culture sits at a crossroads, carrying influences from the Central Asian traditions to its north and west, while sharing deep historical ties with the Hindustani classical traditions of the Indian subcontinent. Throughout the album, these musical lineages meet in new ways, bringing together instruments, rhythms, and melodic approaches that reveal both their distinctions and their common roots.

Rather than offering an argument, "A Line Between Hearts" invites a conversation. Each collaboration reflects both the realities of division and the persistence of connection. Musicians separated by geography, politics, and history come together through a shared musical language, revealing relationships that exist beyond the lines drawn on maps.

At its heart, the album is an exploration of proximity and distance: the spaces between people, the forces that keep them apart, and the enduring human desire to reach across those divides.
